Learn to Meditate

Shambhala NYC offers free meditation instruction for beginners, or anyone looking to refresh their understanding of mindfulness meditation practice.

Led by a qualified Shambhala Meditation Instructor, this 45-minute session presents the view and technique of mindfulness-awareness meditation. Each class features a guided practice session – full instructions on working with posture, breath, and thoughts, as well as an opportunity to ask questions. Through synchronizing mind and body in meditation, we create the foundation for a sane and balanced life.

These free classes are open to all and may be repeated as often as desired.

Shambhala offers a range of classes, workshops and retreats for both new and experienced meditators.

Dharma Gatherings: An introduction to the Shambhala teachings and mindfulness meditation, as well as an opportunity to connect with other practitioners. It consists of group meditation practice, a talk by one of our senior teachers, discussion, and a light reception. Meditation instruction is also provided.

Shambhala Training – Weekend I: The first in Shambhala’s renowned series of weekend training programs. This weekend includes meditation instruction, teaching, and is an excellent opportunity to settle into several days of deep practice.  Learn more about Weekend I.
