Compassion/Tonglen for Ukraine and Beyond

Compassion and the Ukraine

In response to the invasion of Ukraine, a daily meditation gathering was established, and Compassion for Ukraine began organizing to provide support to sangha and others in Ukraine.

The daily meditation session includes mindfulness/awareness (shamatha/vipashyana) practice and also a compassion practice known as tonglen (sending and taking), for those who are familiar with it.

The daily gatherings begin at 11 a.m. Eastern Time with meditation for half an hour.  Following that there may be presentations related to Ukraine, or brief talks on dharma topics, and discussion.

If you would like to join the gathering or learn more, click here to go to the Compassion for Ukraine website.

In addition to the zoom link for the daily gathering, the website has information on ways to donate that are reliable in getting aid directly to Ukrainian people, and updates on how donations have been used.  The site also contains dharma resources related to the meditation practices, and an archive of recordings of talks on war, compassion practices and related topics, including programs offered by Shambhala New York teachers and others.
