Ashley Dinges, Director of Development & Membership
Ashley brings management and fundraising experience to Shambhala, having previously served as Executive Director of Merrimack Hall, a nonprofit performing arts center in Alabama, and most recently as project manager of American Graduate Day, a seven-hour, live national PBS broadcast from Lincoln Center. She is an MBA candidate at NYU’s Stern School of Business and a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. E-mail

Geoffrey Gale, Programs & Operations Manager
Geoffrey comes to New York City after having served for several years in multiple roles in Operations and Guest Services at Karmê Chöling Shambhala Meditation Center. In addition to extensive knowledge of Shambhala form, decorum and process, Geoffrey brings a wealth of professional experience in hospitality and customer service to his role as Operations Manager. As a committed student of the Buddhadharma for over 17 years, Geoffrey also brings with him deep knowledge of the dharma and the Shambhala path of practice and study. Georgia Pettit, Director of Marketing & First Touch Programming
Georgia is a marketing strategist with experience in content creation, website optimization, and social media campaigns. She has worked in integrated marketing for Fortune 500 companies including MTV, General Motors, Samsung, Squarespace and Revlon. In addition to her Shambhala studies, Georgia is a longtime practitioner of reiki and is on the path to becoming a full reiki master. E-mail

Mary Beth Minton, Finance Director
Mary Beth brings a wealth of financial expertise to Shambhala New York. She previously co-founded and ran the financial operations of a children’s toy company, Zylie and Friends, a highly-acclaimed new toy innovation.  Before that, she was Executive Director of the Red Ribbon Foundation, the largest HIV/AIDS fundraising organization in Connecticut. Her experience in the non-profit world also includes many volunteer roles and participation on several charity boards. She holds an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School. E-mail

Stephen Wickhem, Registrar & Marketing Coordinator

Stephen brings creativity and joy to Shambhala New York as the face behind the front desk. In addition to his role managing program registrations and serving as the first point of contact for the public, he also develops and executes the marketing strategy and social media campaigns. Stephen has been on the path of meditation since 2012 and is an authorized Shambhala Guide. E-mail

Meral Jones, Development Associate

Meral brings fundraising and arts administration experience to Shambhala. Before coming to New York, she worked in the development office at the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts. She is a recent graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art with a concentration in art history. E-mail

Dorje Kasung

Dr. Shanté Paradigm Smalls, Rusung

Shanté Paradigm Smalls is the NYC Center’s Rusung or Area Protector. Rusung Smalls has practiced in Shambhala since 2006 and has been a member since 2007. Rusung Smalls joined the Dorje Kasung (indestructible dharma protectors) in 2009 and took her lifetime Dorje Kasung oath in 2010. Rusung Smalls is a student of our lineage holder, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoches, is an authorized teacher in Shambhala Buddhism and is a Meditation Instructor, as well. Outside of Shambhala, the Rusung is an Assistant Professor at St. John’s University and holds a PhD in Performance Studies from New York University. E-mail

Open Positions

Coordinator of Programs & Volunteers (Part-time)

Manages all administrative aspects of program execution and volunteer coordination including: overseeing the cultivation, education, & coordination of SMCNY volunteer base, program coordinator/staff training & scheduling, teacher and program coordinator support, material preparation, readying physical program spaces and environment management. Provides administrative support to practice and community groups. Approximately 30-35 hrs/week.
