Living Beautifully: Book Discussion + Group Meditation (In-Person)
by Pema Chödrön
Open to meditators of all experience levels, our in-person meditation events offer us a chance to practice and study together, meet and connect with other members of our community, and refresh our sense of well-being, goodness, and sanity.
Our Second Sunday events from September - October 2024 will feature readings of Pema Chödrön's book "Living Beautifully" followed by a hearty discussion. As with all Second Sunday events, this book discussion will be preceded by an hour of group meditation. Meditation instruction will be available for newcomers. There is no need to be familiar with the book or to have attended previous readings, and you are welcome to attend our events in this series at any time.
"We live in difficult times. Life so often seems like a turbulent river threatening to drown us and destroy our world. Why, then, shouldn’t we cling to the certainty of the comfortable—to our deep-seated habits and familiar ways? Because, Pema Chödrön teaches, that kind of fear-based clinging keeps us from the infinitely more powerful experience of being fully alive. The Buddhist teachings she presents here—known as the “Three Commitments”—provide a treasure trove of wisdom for learning to step right into the unknown, to completely and fearlessly embrace the groundlessness of being human, for people of all faiths"
