As we are now within only a short mantra's distance from the end of the first volume, we are looking ahead to transitioning from this text to the next volume in the set. For instance, we could begin Volume II: The Bodhisattva Path of Wisdom & Compassion in September, when the city starts up again in earnest. So these next couple of discussions can be about finishing the text and looking at the appendices of Volume I, in essence doing a review. Might we also consider conducting a read-a-thon?
The next discussion of the Profound Treasury Book Club will be held on SATURDAY, 20 July, from 2:00- 4:00 p.m. at a loft space near Union Square in Manhattan(The address will be included in the reminder message, one week before our gathering.) You are welcome to attend even if you have never been to one of our discussions before, just please try to familiarize yourself with the reading. We will focus on the following material from Vol. I: The Path of Individual Liberation, Chapter 66, The Path of Unification, pg. 511 (hardcover), through pg. 534, the end of Chapter 68: Cutting Through the Numbness of Ego.
For further background if you are new to the book club you may also wish to read the Editor’s Introduction and the previous chapters, but this is optional. Don't have time to read the whole selection? You are still welcome to join us for the discussion. Amazon seems to have the best purchase options and prices on this text. If you were a student of Chogyam Trungpa and just wish to give this book club discussion a try, you are warmly invited to join us. If you have friends who have expressed an interest in joining these discussions but wanted to start with the first volume, this is their chance. Need to join the discussion by Skype or Zoom? Just let me know.
suggested donation of $10 goes to the support of our new location space. Please consider bringing a snack to share--
Our next book club dates will be discussed at this meeting. Your ideas and questions are most welcome!
