Even when the speed and stress of daily life can feel all-consuming, the depth of the present moment is always available to us. This summer, commit to caring for your mind and heart with Shambhala NYC's Meditation in the City Retreat: Seven Days of Mindfulness.

By engaging in deep practice in the heart of the city, we are better able to incorporate the rich rewards of retreat into our daily lives and see the magic in our everyday surroundings. This allows the benefits of retreat practice to stay with us long after the retreat is over.

Modeled on the structure of a traditional weekthün, or "weeklong session," each day is made up of multiple sessions of sitting and walking meditation, dharma talks, movement, mindful eating, and silence as practice.

The focus of this retreat is mindfulness-awareness meditation practice. This technique of simply being with our body, breath and mind has the power to radically transform how we experience our everyday lives, opening the door to greater peace, contentment and confidence.

With mindfulness-awareness as a foundation, Dr. Shante Smalls will also introduce and explore additonal techniques and themes throughout the week, including teachings on basic goodness and compassion practices.

People of all faiths and traditions are warmly invited. Please note the practice days will begin and end with traditional chants.
