Shambhala Training

Shambhala Training offers a structured path of meditation and emotional intelligence education rooted in the ancient wisdom of the Shambhala tradition and created for the challenges of modern, everyday existence.

The Shambhala Training path is a secular course of practice and study which consists of weekday evening courses and weekend retreats suitable for both beginning and experienced meditators, and open to people of any spiritual tradition.

This comprehensive overview of mindfulness-awareness meditation and contemplative living practices presents the profound, simple and incredibly relevant view that when we foster a more awake and compassionate relationship with ourselves, we can help foster a more awake and compassionate world.

About the Curriculum

Shambhala Training is made up of five weeknight courses and five weekend retreats. Each of the ten programs follow a progression, transforming us from our small selves into strong, stable, and compassionate beings.

In Meditation in Everyday Life, we learn to tame our minds and familiarize ourselves with the technique related to our breath, thoughts, and posture. In each successive program, we expand our awareness, learning to relate better with others and applying our mindfulness to each moment of our lives. Through the cumulative Shambhala Training courses, the challenges of daily life become opportunities for both contemplative practice and social action.

The Shambhala Training weekends serve as opportunities to dive deep into our meditation practice and experience the possibilities that exist when we settle fully into the present moment. Each weekend presents a powerful new technique based upon our simple mindfulness-awareness practice. Repeated sessions of sitting and walking, combined with one-on-one discussions with qualified meditation instructors, allows us to hone and clarify our practice.

Through the contemplative experience of Shambhala Training, we can awaken our inherent dignity, kindness and confidence. Touching our emotions, our intelligence, our creativity, and our compassion with honesty and humor, we can fully live the life we have right here and now.
