We typically think of going on retreat as a chance to get away, staying at a remote retreat center surrounded by nature. But what happens once the retreat is over and we return to our normal routine in a busy, crowded city? It can feel as if all the peace, clarity and connection cultivated during retreat evaporates as soon as we jump back into city life.

With this in mind, the Shambhala Meditation Center of New York is pleased to announce the Meditation In The City Retreat: Winter Weekthün 2018.

By participating in deep practice in the heart of the city we are better able to incorporate the rich rewards of retreat into our daily lives and see the magic in our usual surroundings, allowing the benefits of retreat practice to stay with us long after the retreat is over.

Modeled on the structure of a traditional weekthün, this program is made up of consecutive sessions of sitting and walking meditation, dharma talks, movement, mindful eating, and silence as practice. People of all faiths and traditions are warmly invited. Please note the practice days will begin and end with a few traditional chants.
