This weekend retreat is an immersive experience designed for new and returning meditators looking to explore and deepen a mindfulness meditation practice. It is also the starting point for those looking to begin Shambhala Training.

About this Program

Shambhala Training Weekend I: Feel Human Again is the first weekend retreat in the renowned Shambhala Training series. This weekend provides an opportunity to learn and practice the simple yet profound technique of mindfulness-awareness meditation.

Through short, repeated sessions of sitting and walking, we will deepen our comfort being with ourselves, and experience the possibilities that exist when we settle fully into the present moment.

Interspersed lectures present the Shambhala view of meditation practice: to cultivate compassion for ourselves and others, and resore our inherent sanity amidst a chaotic world. Through a healthy balance of instruction and practice, we grow our understanding of the how and the why of meditation.

Under the care and guidance of David Perrin and a group of experienced meditation instructors, we'll learn to carry our mindfulness practice off the cushion and into every aspect of our lives.

Shambhala Training Weekend I includes:

  • Instructions on sitting and walking meditation

  • Guided and silent sessions of sitting and walking meditation

  • Talks and small group discussions

  • Optional one-on-one discussion with a qualified meditation instructor

  • Concluding Sunday reception

  • Shambhala: The Sacred Path of the Warrior text book by Chögyam Trungpa

If you'd like to participate but cannot make the full weekend, you can register for the Friday Night Public Talk.
