Our Generosity Policy
The Shambhala Meditation Center of New York remains open almost entirely due to the generosity of its Members and program participants.
It is our sincere wish that no one be prevented from participating in programs at the Shambhala Center due to financial considerations. As a result we have adopted a pay-what-you-can policy as an option for people being introduced to our community and those who are committed to supporting the Shambhala Center.
All of our introductory Way of Shambhala programs are offered on a pay-what-you-can basis for those experiencing financial hardship.
For non-Way of Shambhala and non-introductory programs, if you are able to support the Shambhala Center with a monthly donation of at least $20 a month ($240 a year, less than one weekend program) as a Member, and you are experiencing financial hardship, then you can access our pay-what-you-can system. The monthly membership income from you enables us to have an overall reliable picture of our annual revenue and supports our members in times of financial need.
Your generosity allows us to be so generous with our program prices, thank you!
If one is not able to pay the minimum monthly contribution please contact us and we will be happy to accommodate your specific situation to make our programs affordable for you. We refuse to turn anyone away from our programs due to financial obstacles.
To take advantage of our pay-what-you-can policy, please contact us in advance at (212) 675-6544.
We do not accept pay-what-you-can at the door, so please pre-arrange. Thank you!
